‘This dance performance explores the relationship of my Paraguayan heritage, what can my DNA test through ancestry,co.uk teach me?
“DNA is a molecule composed of two chains that coil around each other to form a double helixcarrying genetic instructions for the development, functioning, growth and reproduction of all known organisms and many viruses.”
How can I connect to this through movement? In the piece, I use soundbites from “Pocahontas” to subvert the meaning and also to show that my upbringing has taught me nothing about these cultures that I wish I had been taught about. I am also interested in highlighting the sexualisation of indigenous South American bodies in western European culture and exploring how my own non-binary existence relates within that.’
